Vectone Mobile offers Cheap call 1p calls to Pakistan, Philippines and Sri Lanka to its PAYG SIM card customers.
If you call Pakistan, Philippines or Sri Lanka regularly, then you can do it for peanuts thanks to new bundles at Vectone Mobile called Country Saver. The service is divided into three offers (one for each country) which vary slightly but in a nutshell you choose one local number from a country and benefit from a rate of just 1p per minute. All of these bundles costs £10 and give 1000 minutes allowance valid for 30 days. In addition, the Sri Lanka and Philippines Country Savers come with 1GB of data allowance. Only Vectone PAYG SIM card are eligible for the deal.
You may think that 1000 minutes per month to call one number is way too much as not everybody will use such allowance. In order to make the deal even more attractive both Sri Lanka and Philippines allowances can be shared between up to 3 different Vectone PAYG SIM cards, so that, for example, your whole family can call one relative. The service is limited to particular operators: in Sri Lanka you may choose a number from Etisalat, Hutch or Mobitel, in Philippines the deal is restricted to Sun Celluar, while in Pakistan you can select only Zong mobile numbers.
If you are interested in any of the deals and you already have a Vectone PAYG SIM card you need to fill up a form on Vectone’s website and have enough credit on your account. The operator says that it may take up to 3 days to activate the service. Additionally, the offer is automatically renewed each month so if you want to resign, remember to do it not later than 7 days before the end of your 30-day period.
Vectone Mobile breaks the 1p per minute international call rate and cuts it by half.
MVNOs have been competing to offer the best rates for PAYG SIM cards. Some virtual operators fight on national rates, but majority of them want to provide the cheapest international call rates. For long time operators were luring customers by offering rock-bottom rates of 1p per minute for international calls. Not all of them have such prices but all strive to get there and customers got used to having very low international pay as you go rates.
However, Vectone Mobile went one step further and decided to break the 1p per minute line. Currently if you use Vectone PAYG SIM card you can take advantage of call rates of 1/2p. Yes, that’s half a penny for one minute of international airtime. Such a low rate is available for calls to 7 countries: Bulgaria, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Poland and Romania. But it is valid for landline calls only. The half a penny rate is part of Low Cost International Calls offer in which Vectone offers their PAYG SIM card users call rates of 1/2p or 1p per minute. The higher-but-still-low rate of 1p per minute applies to 40 countries all over the world and is valid mostly for landline numbers but also includes mobile numbers. All of this comes without any hidden catches or fine print, you just need to be Vectone PAYG customers.
Vectone Mobile’s new international deal is definitely a game change for PAYG SIM card market in the UK. Most likely it will mean that the competition will have to adapt by offering rates better than, or at least as good as, this offer. Although, I do not know how lower can you get. It seems crazy to think that in the future we will have international call rate for PAYG SIM card of less than 1/2p per minute.
This July, Vizz Mobile is giving away free airtime for calls to Sri Lanka if you top up your PAYG SIM card account.
If you have a Vizz Mobile PAYG SIM card and top up your account this month, the MVNO will give you free airtime for calls to Sri Lanka. It is a very simple deal with just a few terms and conditions. First of all, you need to do is to make a top-up worth at least 10 pounds. Secondly, you can get free minutes only twice a month. Each top-up grants you 30 free minutes to both landline and mobile numbers in Sri Lanka. It’s good to remember that you need to use this free allowance in 7 days as it will disappear afterwards. If you exceed the free Sri Lankan minutes you will be charged according to standard Vizz PAYG SIM card rates. However, you should hurry up because the deal is valid until the end of July, 2014.
Moreover, if you are intending to top up your account this month you can take advantage of another deal for PAYG SIM cards. Vizz also gives away £1 extra free credit whenever you make your first top-up online. You can get another free pound for the second time you top up online via your online account. Again this deal is only valid until the end of this month, but there’s still plenty of time to have a chance to use it.
We hope to see more interesting offers this summer especially for PAYG SIM cards that are focused on international calls. There is a chance that Vizz’s offers will be extended to following months and not end in July.
