Samsung Galaxy S4 has finally been announced. This mobile phone is perhaps the hottest phone of this year and probably more widely anticipated than iPhone. It’s similar to Samsung Galaxy S3 but have some significant enhancements in terms of performance added.
S4 has five-inch HD Super AMOLED display with a 1,920×1,080-pixel screen resolution. It weighs 130g (4.6 ounces) and is thinner than Samsung Galaxy S3. It runs the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. There is 64GB of internal storage and a microSD slot supporting cards up to 64GB. S4 with its super-sized screen and specialised software seems to be even better than iPhone. The mobile has the IR blaster on the top which allows to control TV using the handset. Samsung promises that the blaster works with all TVs, not only Samsung ones. On the back, there is 13-megapixel camera which records 1080p HD video. Samsung added many software enhancements, such as gestures (eye-tracking) and “a beefier notifications tray that offers a ton more toggling options to quickly turn settings on and off.” Samsung equipped S4 with Group Play which allows users to connect (via NFC or Bluetooth) to other Galaxy S4 devices and share photos, music, documents. There are also many more interesting apps: S Health which counts calories and steps, S Translator, S Voice Drive which starts when one gets into a car. When eye-tracking is considered, GS4 keeps the screen from dimming when someone is looking at it and pauses videos when eyes dart away.
Samsung Galaxy S4 will be available on Three, EE, Orange and T-Mobile. It will be launched in UK on 26 April. Samsung hasn’t shared pricing yet but it is expected to cost as much as Samsung Galaxy S3.
